A DAY IN THE LIFE OF RUPERT

INTRODUCTION

We can’t believe we’ve had our office dog Rupert with us for a whole year now. To mark his one-year work anniversary at Gray Dawes, and to celebrate #BringYourDogToWorkDay, we thought we’d let him take over the blog for the day, to let you all know what he gets up to on a daily basis. So, without further ado, welcome Rupert!

STARTING THE DAY RIGHT

To start my day, I like to run a few laps of the office – just to get myself raring to go for the day ahead. I’ve got such a long to-do list that it really helps me clear my mind and get me in the zone. As people start arriving, I make sure I say good morning to everyone – a lot of people like to share their breakfast with me, and I don’t like to pick favourites at work, so I keep it fair and take a little bit of everyone’s. I’m a real team player like that.

TIME TO GET TO WORK

Now it’s time to get down to the serious stuff! As Chief Motivation Officer, there’s a lot of work to be done, and I never know where I’m going to be needed next. I lie right in the middle of the office, waiting to be summoned for my first task. After spending all morning running from department to department I am SO tired. All I want to do on my lunch break is have a little snooze in my favourite spot. But no. I’m a working dog, and I’ve got a lot of responsibilities! Lunch time is time for me to take my colleagues out for a walk and talk.

A LITTLE AFTERNOON BREAK

They like to get a bit of fresh air and a leg stretch at lunchtime, so I like to take them out over Colchester’s Castle Park for a little stroll. They always walk SO slowly, and never let me have a lunchtime swim – even though I’ve mentioned so many times that it would really help re-energise me before the afternoon.

NAP TIME

Afternoons are my favourite at work, everyone’s working hard and I normally get to sneak off for a quick power nap – they’re usually all too busy to notice I’m gone. Before I know it, I’m being rudely awoken, and the office is empty. Oops. I’ve done it again, I’ve slept through the whole afternoon. I’m sure I’ll be able to catch up on everything tomorrow though, right?
