Onwards & Upwards with ITA Airways

latest updates from the Italian flag carrier

ITA Airways, Italy’s flagship carrier, has expanded significantly since we last spoke with them. They now operate as far east as Tokyo and as far west as San Francisco. This is all made possible through newer, more efficient aircraft and a fleet that has grown to 98 aircraft, of which 22 are widebody and 76 are narrowbody.

In this article, we chat to ITA Airways about their integration with Lufthansa Group, their commitment to sustainable travel, their Volare points program, and much more.

ITA Airways and Lufthansa

ITA Airways is the newest member of the Lufthansa Group, providing passengers with an even greater choice of travel options. These include codeshares through hubs, improved schedules, and access to new frequent flyer programs. As part of this integration, Rome Fiumicino, a 5-star Skytrax airport, will become Lufthansa Group’s sixth and southernmost hub. The integration of ITA Airways into Lufthansa Group will take place gradually and include multiple key points, such as the inclusion of ITA Airways in Star Alliance.
