SENIOR SALES MANAGER

MAIN PURPOSE

To achieve set sales targets by promoting and selling the company’s travel and events services and products to new customers. To act as a senior member of the team by displaying exemplary sales skills and results. Make a positive contribution to the growth and profitability of the business by identifying and winning new business.

Accountable to: Head of Sales

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plan and prioritise sales activities and customer/prospect contact to achieve agreed sales targets and business objectives.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities. Generate and follow-up leads to agreed targets and timescales
  • Use customer and prospect CRM tool and systems to plan sales activity and ensure that these systems are always kept up to date.
  • Attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings.
  • Produce and maintain a detailed business and travel activity profile for all prospective new customers so that the potential business can be evaluated
  • Develop a compelling sales proposition and manage each stage of the tendering process for prospective new business
  • Provide accurate scope of services document for all signed business and successfully oversee the client implementation process until the client is fully embedded
  • Work closely with Account Managers to ensure that existing accounts are maintained, sales maximised and targets met. Also work to ensure that the relationships are professionally maintained and developed.
  • Designate weekly call lists to appointed Telemarketer
  • Represent GDG at key networking events
  • Deliver online booking tool demonstrations to prospective and current customers

Experience
  • 4+ years experience as a direct sales manager
  • Identification and development of new business opportunities through to fulfilment.
  • Negotiating with key decision makers
  • Business travel and events sales
  • Global travel sales
  • Established network of business travel buyers

  • Effective persuading and influencing skills.
  • Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Wired Contact.
  • Able to self-manage and prioritise workload.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Understanding of tendering and pricing processes.
  • Bid management and writing skills.
  • Skilled in managing and coaching through the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing
  • Sourcing new leads and business opportunities
  • Travel technology knowledge
Ability/aptitude
  • Existing knowledge of current trends and conditions within the Business Travel Industry.
  • Able to accurately assess customer needs and expectations.
  • Willingness to support and mentor team members.
  • Motivated by the achievement of targets.
  • Able to assimilate information and knowledge accurately e.g. market trends; competitors
  • Respond positively when under pressure to achieve targets and deadlines.
Special Requirements
  • Able to travel within the UK and overseas, and to stay away from home as necessary.
  • Project a professional image on behalf of the company at all times.
  • Able to attend out-of-hours events/ training/presentations.
