Heavy Fog Disrupting Flights in the South of the UK

Heavy fog in the southern regions of the UK has resulted in flight disruptions at a number of airports on 23 January. In London, at least 100 flights are said to have been cancelled at Heathrow, due to reduced visibility and hazardous weather conditions. Both domestic and international flights have been affected. Associated disruptions have also been reported at London City and Stansted airports.

The heavy fog is forecast to clear towards the early afternoon, with associated Met Office fog warnings expected to expire by 10:30 local. However, it should be noted that once the fog has cleared, flights will likely be delayed due to the resultant backlog.

Persons scheduled to transit via airports in the aforementioned affected areas are advised to contact their travel team  for an update on the status of their flight(s).
