Last week was a busy week for the Gray Dawes Group Events department, not only were we joined by our new Events and Group Travel Operations Manager Fiona Bool, but she was also then recognised in the CN30 Under Thirty. We caught up with Fi, after an incredibly busy first week in the office, to find out more about the process and the night itself.
“I was nominated for the award by my industry mentor, Rebecca Duncan, who is Head of Partnership at Virgin Atlantic. I’m currently enrolled on a one-year industry mentor scheme called Fast Forward 15, and Rebecca is my mentor. Fast Forward 15 is designed to support and develop women within the events industry, to help them achieve their long-term goals.
After seeing some of the projects I had been working on in my previous role, and the success I had with them, Becky kindly nominated me for the CN30 Under Thirty. My entry, submitted by my mentor, was first reviewed by Conference News, shortlisted and then picked out by a panel of industry experts.
The CN30 Under Thirty is a scheme ran in partnership with CVent and the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers. It is designed to recognise the talent of young professionals within the events industry and show appreciation and encouragement for the success they’ve achieved so far.
Last Monday evening myself, along with the other 29 successful candidates, were invited along to Camm & Hooper’s Grace Hall in London, to collect our awards. On the evening, we were all individually recognised for our achievements, and celebrated with industry peers and press. The evening was the perfect opportunity to network and celebrate the accolade.
Since, the nomination has already opened many avenues for me, including opportunities to speak at future industry events and conferences. I’m looking forward to 2019 and the exciting challenges which are ahead since joining the Gray Dawes team.”
