De zakelijke cultuur in Istanbul combineert traditionele Turkse waarden met moderne internationale handelspraktijken. Hoewel hi\u00ebrarchie en formaliteit nog steeds belangrijk zijn, valt vooral de warmte en gastvrijheid van de Turken op. Vergaderingen zijn vaak persoonlijker en minder puur transactioneel dan in West-Europa. Small talk over familie of eten gaat meestal vooraf aan de zakelijke agenda.<\/p>\n

Bij binnenkomst is het gebruikelijk iedereen individueel te begroeten, vooral bij kleinere bijeenkomsten. Dit gebeurt doorgaans met een handdruk, oogcontact en een lichte knik. In formele setting geven mannen elkaar een hand, vrouwen doen dat ook maar het is beleefd te wachten tot de vrouw zelf haar hand aanbiedt.<\/p>\n

Turken waarderen beleefdheid en een vriendelijke toon. Een al te directe benadering wordt meestal vermeden. Het bouwen van vertrouwen en onderlinge verstandhouding staat centraal, dus neem de tijd voordat u tot de kern van de zaken komt.<\/p>\n

\nDe criminaliteitscijfers in Turkije bereikten hun hoogtepunt in 2014, maar zijn sindsdien gestaag gedaald. Volgens Numbeo heeft Istanbul tegenwoordig een matig risicoprofiel, met een score van 48 op 100 en een plek in de middenmoot wereldwijd. <\/p>\n

De meest voorkomende incidenten zijn zakkenrollerij en diefstal in drukke gebieden zoals Taksimplein en Istiklalstraat. Ook komt het gebruik van valse bankbiljetten vaker voor. <\/p>\n
